SOMEONE :: is conspiring}} AGAINST US!
A dark era has descended upon Gotham. Not necessarily for its average legal citizen, oh no--this is the scary part--but for those deemed 'social deviants' and 'costumed delusionals'. With Batman now missing and the Black Glove (a society no one really knows or truly cares about) at large, all living remainders of the Caped Crusader's rogue gallery have suddenly found themselves apprehended and detained within the infamous Arkham Asylum.
Even the reformed villains.
Edward Nygma and Harley Quinn have been framed for crimes they never actually committed. Tim Drake, the Boy Wonder, has been forced into Arkham for suspicion of Batman's assumed murder. Villains, like Jane Doe, who have hid underground for years have suddenly been discovered by a curiously crack GCPD team and are now under strict supervision within Arkham's walls.
And so you wonder: how is this even possible?
Perhaps no one else realizes it, but the 'crazies' know; someone is behind this. All of this. Someone with connections, someone with skill, someone with the finesse of a man who's run Gotham's underbelly for years on end.
And really, Oswald Cobblepot has nothing to fear from these suspicions. Because he may be in with his villainous comrades, but that's all part of the plan. With Batman gone and Robin in a straitjacket, now is the ideal time to seize the day and claim all of Gotham's premiere illegal rackets. Gambling, prostitution, insurance. Ozzie has a plan, and now none of his wayward peers can interfere, thanks to his precautions. Because Arkham has much better security, the type that thinks like they do. He should know; he paid for it. Just as he paid that special branch of the GCPD, just as he framed his friends, just as he hired half of the Arkham staff--like Linda Friitawa--to ensure his friend are...properly subdued.
But a lot depends on things he can't control anymore, like everyone playing along, or the detectives among Arkham's special batch of patients heeding only red herrings in their search for truth. Cobblepot can't lose at this point; he has too few friends and far too many potential enemies.
And so the question stands...
ARE YOU :: friend, enemy, or just}} ANOTHER SOUL FOR SALE?
?
